How it works

Melanin (MEL) is assessed by a reflectance method using two safe, narrow optical wavelengths. By comparing the light reflected from the skin at each wavelength, the probe calculates a melanin index that correlates with pigment content at the surface.

Hydration (HYD) is evaluated by a contact sensor that reacts to the skin’s moisture in the outer layer (stratum corneum). The change in the sensor’s electrical properties is translated into a hydration index, offering a quick view of surface moisture balance.

Measurements are non-invasive, fast, and consistent, giving professionals two complementary values in a single pass — ideal for clear explanations and before/after comparisons.
